Personal Growth Plan
For our LIBS 680: Culturally Responsive Librarianship, we were asked to identify, through our readings and through the self-assessments we had taken, an opportunity for personal growth toward becoming more culturally inclusive librarians. We were then asked to create a plan to reach this goal. While I took many of the self-assessments in this course, the result that surprised me the most was that I had an implicit bias toward physically-disabled people. This – and the fact that I was already exploring ways that my library may be failing in its service to differently-abled people, both in a physical way due to its old architecture and through lack of representation in its collection – is why I chose this as the focus of my plan. My Personal Growth Plan includes my objective, how I might measure my progress, and what resources I might use to assist in my plan.
Meets:
SLO 2. Demonstrate leadership attributes for a variety of information environments.
