Collection Plan
For our LIBS 658: Knowledge Resources: Planning, Selecting & Managing Collections course, were asked to develop a Collection Plan based on the needs of our community. My Collection Plan was for the Handley library (where I work), and the community analyzed was Winchester city (where the Handley library is located). This plan was the final result of a multi-part, scaffolded process which included an environmental scan of the Handley library’s service area, and an analysis of the Handley library’s collection. I identified two areas where the collection could improve: in serving the Spanish-speaking community, and in serving the senior community. My Collection Plan includes a three-year plan for improving service to these two communities, as well as examples of items to add to the collection along with the selection criteria I used to select them.
